As a special treat, enjoy a few songs from the first set from one of the recent Beacon shows on 3/8/07.

Throwin' Bones Episode 4 - Peakin' At The Beacon...Continued

Our countdown to the Spring Tour continues with more music from the Big Apple. We again visit the Beacon Theatre and will listen to what is widely regarded as one of Ratdog's finest shows......ever. The second night of the '03 Beacon Run, October 25th featured a full night of solid playing. We will focus on the second set, featuring:

Dark Star > Sitting In Limbo > Scarlet Begonias > Stuff > Knockin On Heaven's Door > Throwing Stones > Slipknot! > Franklin's Tower

Josh Roseman (trombone) and Rob Barraco (keys) join the band to lend a little hand and the result was a magical night of music. Enjoy.

Throwin' Bones Episode 3 - Peakin' at the Beacon

Our production editor is on hiatus this week, so our podcast will be sans commentary this week, focusing on the music. We will feature the second set of October 24th, 2003 at the Beacon Theatre for Episode 3. While its counterpart on the next evening typically gets more praise, I've always had a thing for this show, particularly the second set. Our show features this segment:

Black Throated Wind ... Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo > The Wheel > Stuff > Standing On The Moon > Sugar Magnolia

We will be featuring Ratdog Beacon shows in our next few episodes, as we count down to Ratdog's Spring Tour, which will feature a three night run at the Beacon Theatre in New York City March 8-10. Visit ratdog.org's tour page for more info and sign up for Fantasy Ratdog for the Spring Tour!

Throwin' Bones Episode 2 - Rocky Mountain High

Episode 2 of Throwin' Bones takes to the mountains. We visit two shows in Colorado, the first one being March 16th, 2004 at the Boulder Theatre. Our first segment samples the first set from this show:

Mission In The Rain, Greatest Story Ever Told > Althea, Shade Of Grey > Hell In A Bucket
View source info here.

Our second set segment is from the Paramount Theatre in Denver on May 13th, 2003. The beginning of the set is short on improvisation but has always been fun to listen to. Energy is very high and Kenny rejoined the band in the second set after being a little under the weather. Crank up the stereo and slip on your dancin' shoes. The set begins like this:

New Speedway Boogie > Wrong Way Feelin > I Need A Miracle > Wang Dang Doodle
